Hygienists

Hygienists provide two key benefits for clients at our practice. The first is to help patients who have gum disease by performing prolonged gum treatment (PGT) over a series of visits. This combined with oral care advice can help stabilise gum disease. You can only be prescribed this treatment after a visit with a dentist who will advise how long the treatment will take and how much it will cost.

The second benefit is to provide regular cleaning and polishing of your teeth and oral hygiene instruction between dental visits. Not only does this remove plaque and calculus that is difficult to remove by brushing and flossing yourself, it can also help improve your confidence by having a cleaner, fresher mouth and reduce the need for expensive dental treatment.

Once you have been examined by a dentist from our practice to check your oral health, you can book a hygienist appointment for a clean and polish whenever you want a cleaner, fresher mouth. This is great if you have an important event such as a job interview or even first a date or wedding. Our hygienists often spend time with children to mix treatment with ongoing preventative care education to help reduce the risk of future gum disease and tooth decay.

For more information and advice, come into the Buntingford Dentist and make an appointment to see one of our dental staff.
